Australian International Education Student Enrolments Drop

Australian International Education Student Enrolments Drop

Triple hit to sector costs $400m.

AUSTRALIA has lost more than $400 million in the fallout from last year’s attacks on overseas students, the Rudd government’s escalating crackdown on dodgy private colleges and the high Aussie dollar. As the sector’s relations with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship deteriorated last week, Universities Australia confirmed that a forecast estimate of a 16 per cent to 20 per cent drop in higher education visas had been realised….

“At the same time, pathways programs into universities are falling even faster, possibly exceeding 30 per cent for universities for next year according to a range of reports coming in.”
