University of Sydney less Domestic more International

Uni push to slash undergraduates, allow more foreign students. The University of Sydney is considering cutting more than 6000 undergraduate places and instead recruiting more postgraduate and international students, in a radical overhaul of its operations.

The shake-up aims to improve the university’s finances and lift its international research reputation, with the impact likely to be felt across the Australian higher education sector, particularly in Sydney.

They better not forget to explain the benefits international students bring, i.e. they can actually subsidise domestic places, or otherwise The University of Sydney will be accused of giving places to foreigners instead of domestic… Smarter institutions would be now charging same fees for both domestic and international, i.e.lower than present international fees, but higher than domestic.
