Australia 2nd in UN Human Development Report
Australia has been rated second in the world behind Norway in the United Nation’s annual Human Development Index.
New Zealand came in at sixth place, while Tonga dropped four places to 95 and Fiji and Samoa both jumped three places for a ranking of 96.
Democratic Republic of Congo and Niger were bottom on the list of 187 countries and territories.
According to the new report, countries in the South such as China, India and Brazil are the main drivers of economic growth and societal change for the first time in centuries.
