The 49-year-old “Gladiator” actor is working with his crew at the 5,000-year-old village of Kayaköy in Muğla for the final scenes of his upcoming historical drama, which follows the story of an Australian father as he comes to Turkey following World War I to look for his three sons who went missing during the Battle of Gallipoli in Çanakkale.

Crowe stars in the leading role as the father in the movie, whose supporting cast also includes Turkish comedian-actor Cem Yılmaz and actor-director Yılmaz Erdoğan.

The filming of the last scenes of the movie, an Australian-Turkish-US co-production, was to last four days and take place in the historic churches and houses of Kayaköy, Cihan reported.

Crowe was in İstanbul’s Balat neighborhood last week to shoot other scenes for “The Water Diviner,” which began filming in Australia. The exact theatrical release date for the movie has yet to be announced although it is expected to hit the big screen in Australia sometime in 2014.’
